Happy December lovely people! The pinup in your bird’s-eye view calendar this month is everyone’s favourite, Rainbow lorikeet. I love capturing these birds amongst the gum flowers. The colours are amazing.
I’ve now almost recovered from my two back-to-back birding trips – needed a holiday from my holidays! Both O’Reilly’s and Tasmania were amazing and I was lucky enough to get 33 new lifers, and to meet and spend time with some truly amazing people.
I know you are dying to know if I got one lifer in particular after being unsuccessful in my previous Tassie trips and I am so happy to say that I did! Here are just a few of the photos I was able to take when Mr Pink Robin put on a show for us. What an absolutely gorgeous little bird!

I was also lucky enough to see Orange-bellied parrots, Swift parrots, and Forty-spotted pardalotes. I am still going through all the photos I took and I will share some on my Instagram page.
It’s one week to go to place your Xmas orders so they will reach you in time (by 15th December, 2025). You can place orders on my Etsy Shop or contact me directly. I have recently re-stocked tea towels, notepads, and mugs, both of which make great stocking fillers!
I can’t wait to start next year’s calendar and I figured the cover image doesn’t get much air time so I thought I would share it here. I took this photo of a laughing kookaburra in the late afternoon sun posing nicely on a post outside our “Just Red Wines cabin”, Ballandean (near Girraween NP). I especially love the light in this photo. Plus, it’s a Kookaburra, what’s not to love?

Thank you so much for your support and for being here this year as I share my bird blog. Have a wonderful end to the year and start to 2026. I will be back in January with an all new 2026 calendar image!
