Happy July friends! If you’ve turned the page on your Bird’s-eye view calendar, you will see a very fluffy laughing kookaburra. This kooka visited us while we were staying at Kobble Creek and posed so beautifully that It was hard to choose which photo to include in the calendar.

On first appearances, the size and cuteness factor of this Kookaburra made me think it was a baby. However, I have since learned that an easy way to tell a juvenile laughing kookaburra aged 6 months or less from an adult is to look at the colour of its beak. The lower part of the beak (the mandible) at this age is dark. Check out the Australian Bird Study Association fact sheet on Laughing Kookaburras for a great illustration of the differences and some more details.
Since it is now July, you know what that means – launch date for the 2025 calendar!! Although my 2025 calendar does not feature a Laughing Kookaburra, it does feature some pretty cool birds from the Moreton Bay region, some of which you may have seen before and others you may not be familiar with. Here’s a peek at the cover (see image below).

If you follow me on Facebook, I’ll be posting a video showing the images for each calendar month. If you’re an early bird, for the month of July calendars are available directly from me for AUD$25 per calendar plus a free gift for early bird orders.
Enjoy your July and thank you for following along and for your support!
