Welcome to October! This month on your bird’s-eye view calendar is a beautiful male Rufous Whistler. As per most bird species, the female Rufous Whistler is not as colourful as the male.
However, both the male and female have a beautiful song and call which you can listen to on trusty ebird here.
These guys love to perch up toward the tree tops and sing, so I rarely manage to take a photo that is at eye level. The lovely male on your calendar was a bit of a tease though, so I was able to get closer than I normally would to take the photo.
