It’s June!

And it’s June! How did that happen?! For friends with my calendar, this month features Tilly the Tawny Frogmouth. That’s right, Tilly is a Frogmouth and not an owl.

Tilly will always have a special place in my heart. After seeing her in a tree on several occasions with her parent and sibling, my Mum and I found her on the ground one particularly windy day. She did not appear injured so we rushed home and found an ice cream container, a ladder, and my Dad and went back to try and put Tilly back in the tree as close to her parents as we could. With the help of some people who stopped to see what was happening, we managed to get Tilly back in the tree. As it turned out, these kind strangers lived across the road and promised to keep an eye on Tilly.

When we came back the next day Tilly wasn’t there so I don’t know what happened to her. I like to tell myself that she was reunited with her family and they all lived happily ever after. That’s the story I’m sticking with! My drawing of Tilly’s likeness also features in my soon to be released children’s book, ‘In Pop’s Garden’ 🙂 Enjoy the first month of Winter my friends. It sure has started out chilly! 💗
