Our calendar star this month is a rainbow lorikeet. The photo of the lorikeet in your calendar is the very first decent photo I managed to take of a lorikeet in the flowers. At the time, that meant stalking the lorikeets around the yard, hoping one would look in my direction. Now, they are a permanent fixture on our deck. Although beautiful, and a favourite for many, our group are bullies and schemers who try to take out the other bird competition. They bite, pull tail feathers, and charge at the other birds. Only Billy (remember our crested pigeon who has many unflattering names?) is brave enough to take them on! I still love them though for their beautiful colours and curiosity. I hope your month is filled with brightness and rainbows.
